1994 Subaru WRX

This was my first true import from Japan. A few months earlier I’d sampled RHD in Patrick’s Honda NSX and got hooked — I absolutely had to have something right-hand drive.
I’d been a fan of Japanese Classics since the first R32 GT-Rs started arriving; I watched every single car they posted. In , just before COVID loomed over the U.S., I had two finalists on their site: a one-owner 1994 Skyline GTS25-T sedan with 33k miles (automatic but super clean), and this 1994 Subaru WRX with about 120k miles, numerous mods, and — most importantly — manual, AWD, turbo.
I flew to Richmond, VA. The Japanese Classics crew was awesome. After meeting Dan (GM), I browsed a freshly imported R33 GT-R, the Skyline I’d been eyeing, and a 1994 Supra TT while he prepped the WRX. The test drive started in the rain, but the car was composed and confidence-inspiring. Thirty minutes later, I pointed it home for an eight-hour drive. I babied it — it was still a 25-year-old car from another continent — and it made the trip without skipping a beat.
